  • The International Olympic Committee in Copenhagen votes 66-32 for the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, over Madrid, Spain. Chicago, Illinois was eliminated on the first ballot, and Tokyo, Japan was eliminated on the second ballot. [35]
