  • At age 34, Willie Mays becomes the oldest Major League Baseball player to hit 50 home runs in a season. The Giants' center fielder was also the youngest to accomplish the feat hitting 51 homers in 1955. [56]

  • 50-mph gust carries 165-pound Robert Mitera's tee shot 447 yards to score the world's longest straight hole-in-one at Miracle Hills in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. [1]

  • Sandy Koufax hurls his second shutout of World Series beating Minnesota Twins 2-0 (World Series #62). [1]
