  • At the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, the 30th Anniversary Coca-Cola Twelve Hours of Sebring Camel GT race is held.
    • Finishing 11th in GTO class and 32nd overall is the Bard Boand #94 1963 Corvette Sting Ray coupe driven by Bard Boand, Richard Anderson, and Brian Utt. This is the same car that raced at Sebring in 1963.
    • Placing 21st in GTP class and 58th overall is the Sanyo #48 Corvette driven by Phil Currin and John Carusso. The car is not running at the finish due to engine failure.

    • Finishing 1st is the #144 Corvette, driven by Jerry Hansen.
    • Finishing 3rd is the Full Time Racing #99 Corvette, driven by Phil Currin. Currin sets a new track race lap time.

ACI debuts its Phase III Duntov Turbo, incorporating extensive changes to ass aspects of the base Corvette. Price is US$55,000. Zora Arkus-Duntov attends the event, and General Motors displays the Mako Shark and Aerovette shows cars. [608.30]
  • At the Jack Sykes Chevrolet dealership in Richland, Virginia, the Vette City Celebration is held, in celebration of the delivery of two full trailer loads of new Corvettes, the largest ever single shipment to a dealership. 5000 spectators and 80 Corvettes attend. [608.34]

  • At the Sears Point International Raceway in Sonoma, California, the CRC Chemicals Trans-Am Championship - Round 2 race is held.
    • Finishing 8th is the NEO Life #6 Corvette, driven by Greg Pickett.
    • Finishing 16th is the Exec. Motorhome/Huffaker #24 Corvette, driven by Tom Frank.
    • Finishing 17th is the Merritt Tire #79 Corvette, driven by Larry Park.

  • In France, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is held. John Greenwood enters the race with two Corvettes. A day before the race, one car is damaged. Race officials remove it from the starting line-up, even though it is repaired and ready to race the next day. The other Corvette leads GT class, but at 7-8 hours into the race, a rod shears off, taking them out of the race. [319.14]
  • Monogram issues its 1/24 scale 1953 Corvette model in plastic, as kit number 2291. [176.64]
  • A 1954 Corvette with S.O. (shop order) 2151 is discovered on the used car lot of a Chevrolet dealer in northern California, in rough shape. The styling car had been used to propose several design changes in early 1954. [259.99]
  • At the Zolder Grand Prix race track in Limburg province, Belgium, the Swiss Corvette Club International holds the sixth Corvette Euro-Meet. [332.16]
  • Steve Tate sells his Corvette collection, seven production cars and the 1964 XP-819 rear-engine show car. [522.28]
  • Tom Falconer of Newcastle, England, acquires the Corvette Two-Rotor from Vauxhall, saving the car from being crushed. [777.64]
