Coaches

Art Hobbs:
One of the most experienced and respected tennis coaches in Singapore, Art has been involved with many of Singapore's top players over the past twenty years and has created a tennis paradise in Alexandra Park. Having put his heart and soul into the Claycourts, the club reflects his love of the game. A former Davis Cup player for Singapore, US collegiate player and recent 45+ Singapore champion, Art combines a gifted blend of skill and finesse into his game that he continues to teach to his players in an inspiring fashion.

 

Simon Harvie:
A former top level Canadian Junior player, Simon has been part of the Claycourts' coaching staff since October 2006. Simon has spent the past four years coaching top level Juniors from Canada and the U.S., training with scholarship players and working with several top coaches including former ATP level coaches Simon instills his sense of intensity and intelligence as a player into his students. With a big serve and smooth backhand, Simon is a recent two-time doubles finalist in the STA Opens, partnering with Roy Hobbs.

 

Shane Marshall:
Information to come.

 

Tahar:
A former satellite player, Tahar has been coaching at the Claycourts from its inception. An experienced and knowledgeable coach, Tahar has worked diligently with many up and coming juniors on the tennis scene. A sharp volleyer with quick hands, Tahar has passed on his net skills in his laid-back and fun style that make him a popular coach with players of all ages.

 

Roy Hobbs:
A national level Junior from Canada, Roy has been working with several of the top juniors in Singapore at the Claycourts. Boasting an aggressive power game and rocket forehand, Roy has reached three STA Doubles Open Finals in the past year and a half, partnering with Simon Harvie for two finals and with his father Art for the other. Having been in a tennis environment since an early age when his father would bring him to the courts, Roy has a strong passion for the game and is a great addition to the Claycourts coaching staff.

 

Tiara Hobbs:
Tiara spent the past two summers teaching in the summer sports camps as well as conducting private and group sessions. She was a really big hit with all the kids offering a fun tennis learning experience.
We are looking forward to her return in the summer of 2009!
