Introduction to Twitter (Brown Bag Workshop) *FULL,
taking a waitlist for repeat workshops**
December 3, 2009, 12 noon - 1pm. UVic Downtown Learning Centre
Room, 707 Johnson St.
Cost: $10 for Volunteer Victoria member; $15 for non-members
Description:
In these times, more than ever before, non-profit
organizations are struggling to fulfill
their
missions
with
dwindling
resources, increasing
demand,
too little time and very tight budgets. Social Media tools, such as Twitter,
offer a low-cost opportunity to raise awareness and funds, connect with
community networks, recruit volunteers, collaborate, and empower others
by sharing your story. Is your organization considering joining Twitter?
Want to find out what this new social media tool is all about? This beginner-level
workshop will provide an overview of how nonprofits can use Twitter.
By the end of this workshop participants will:
- Understand
the Twitter basics
- Have some examples of different ways non-profit organizations are
using Twitter
- Have some ideas about how Twitter might be applied to their own
organizations or campaigns
Facilitator
Margaret Hoegg (M.A.) is a writer and communicator who is passionate
about community building through social media tools. In addition to
supporting nonprofits who are new to Twitter, Margaret is a dedicated
volunteer, literary junkie and supporter of all things local.
