YOUTH PROGRAM JOB POSTING - Job Creation Position

THE PROGRAM
Volunteer Victoria’s Youth Volunteer Connections Program engages youth in volunteering. In particular, the program provides support to marginalized youth by increasing their skills levels, self-esteem and community connections through volunteering. This includes those at risk of dropping out of school, early school leavers and youth having difficulty gaining employment. Volunteer placements within the supportive environment of community organizations provide youth with the opportunity to gain work experience, test skills and experience personal growth.

Working with employment service organizations, schools and youth serving agencies, the program encompasses outreach, recruitment and referral, placement, monitoring and support.

This program provides an individualized, youth centred focus, with one-on-one referral and placement sessions. Volunteer placements are monitored, with ongoing follow-up and support available to both the youth and agency. VV also provides information and resources to our member agencies to assist them in placing and supporting youth.

In addition, the program recently added a Peer Support Volunteer component (Peer Navigators) and a Group Volunteering Support component (Team Navigators).

JCP PARTICIPANTS
This program will provide JCP eligible individuals with skills, meaningful employment experience and career development opportunities in this community based youth program, as well as provide exposure to potential employers and networks within the voluntary sector. JCP Participants will work under the direction of the Youth Connections Coordinator. The experience gained through this program will help the participants to obtain employment. One JCP position is still available as listed below. Applicants must be on EI or have been within last 3 years. Closing date: open, until positions are filled.
