GETTING HEREBY SEAThere are four choices: from Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula, from Seattle, from Anacortes an hour north of Seattle, and from Tsawassen, a half hour south of Vancouver, or three hours north of Seattle.From Tsawassen near Vancouver to Swartz Bay, a five minute drive to Sidney. A ferry leaves every hour from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The hour and a half trip is beautiful, through the Gulf Islands, with eagles soaring overhead, and occasionally some killer whales sharing the strait. From Anacortes to Sidney. There is one round trip a day, leaving Anacortes at 7:45 a.m. and Sidney at 11:40 a.m. The three hour trip is beautiful, through the San Juan Islands, giving a close view of Spieden Island, with its collection of exotic animals grazing its seaward slope. From Seattle to downtown Victoria. Passengers only, no vehicles. Three hours. Leaves Seattle twice daily until June 19, then three times daily. From Port Angeles to downtown Victoria. There are four 90 minute trips a day, leaving Port Angeles at 8:20 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The view of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains, and the occasional pod of killer whales adds interest to the trip.
