Campbell River is situated on the east coast of central Vancouver Island and is accessible by land, sea or air. Campbell River is in the north-central island region and is within easy reach of Vancouver and Victoria on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. It's also accessible by regular air service from Seattle, USA, (which also has ferry service to Victoria if you wish to drive).

By Vehicle:
Campbell River is a 3.5-hour (264 km/165 mile) drive north from Victoria or a 90-minute (153 km/95 mile) drive from Nanaimo, where the ferry terminals of Departure Bay and Duke Point are located. Drive Highway #19, the new inland, four-lane expressway, or take the scenic Oceanside Route on the old Island Highway #19A.

By Bus:  Island Coach Lines (Laidlaw) serves Victoria to Port Hardy, and points in between, including Campbell River. Connect to Island Coach Lines from Vancouver on Greyhound or Pacific Coach Lines.

It is an easy journey by ferry from either British Columbia's Mainland or Washington State. Victoria Clipper (passengers only), MV Coho, and Washington State Ferries-operate from Washington. Campbell River is the hub of the North Central Region and has many of the amenities of a big city without sacrificing its small-town character. Campbell River is famous for the legendary salmon fishing. Campbell River has grown into a multi-faceted travel destination, bounded by water and mountains, surrounded by wilderness, and blessed with mild temperatures year round. Campbell River is know as the Salmon Capitol of the World. Great fishing can net you Tyee, Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, Pink salmon. Freshwater fishing in the rivers and lakes surrounding Campbell River is also very good. The steelhead in the rivers are known to local anglers as great fighters. Outdoor adventure is a way of life in Campbell River. Beautiful Quadra Island is only minutes away by Ferry.

"Take a hike" in the nature parks located throughout the city or take on a mountaineering adventures. Scuba diving is fantastic or maybe you will want to snorkel down the river on a guided tour to watch the returning salmon spawn. Wildlife is abundant in the area. Guided tours can take you to view bears, eagles, whales.

Mountain bike the trails in the wilderness near town. Take your bike (or rent one) at Mt. Washington and then ride the miles of trails down. Try white-water kayaking, ocean kayaking or rafting on a number of the rivers in the area. Three spectacular golf courses in the area, Storey Creek, Sequoia Springs, and Pacific Playground,will keep the golf enthusiast busy.
