The James-Younger Gang

Come Ride With Us

Milton F. Perry Awards

One of the projects that the James Younger Gang supports is the annual awards selection to recognize the best efforts toward the preservation of James Younger era history. Recognizing the many contributions made by the late Milton F. Perry, this annual award program is called "The Milton F. Perry Award." Mr. Perry served for many years as the Superintendent of Clay County, Missouri Historic Sites and Curator of the James Farm and Museum.

The awards are selected by an Awards Committee and presented annually at our meetings. Award categories will include the best published article in newspapers or magazines during the preceding year; the best research during the preceding year; and the best film or video documentary. The awards committee may also choose to recognize specific individuals or museum institutions periodically for contributions made.

Writers and researchers are asked to send copies of their work to the secretary-treasurer to be judged. Members are also urged to call any such work to our attention as they become aware of it.

These materials will be donated to the future proposed Milton F. Perry Research Library. It is hoped that the annual awards will encourage more articles, books, films and research to continue the preservation of the true and accurate history of the original James-Younger Gang.
