WHITE CHRISTMAS?

dividerr

We all dream of a white Christmas,
But what if
It started to snow
And did not stop.

That is the scene today
In the Tropic of Canada.
The snow has fallen
Unabated for over sixty hours,

The walkways have disappeared
Beneath the white fluff.
Drifts have blocked the doors
Of homes and senior centres.
Streets have vanished,
Even the ruts of earlier traffic
Are gone,
Lost under the atmospheric barrage.
Even those cars parked
Wear a complete ermine cape.
A distinctive hump in the blanket
Reveals the presence of a
Volkswagen Beetle.

Buses, ferries, aircraft
Continue to sleep
The only transportation
Being skis, snowmobiles and the ever useful feet.
