Poet's Corner:
Autumn Voice

SPEAK ITS NAME

There...
Did you feel it?
The push on the shoulder,
The ruffle through the hair,
The cool, tingling caress on the neck?

Now...
Try and touch it
Catch it in your hands
Hold it close.

Felt but untouchable
Speak its name
The Wind.

FADING EQUINOX

Indian summer
Retreats
In the night
On the little feet of rain,
Leaving
Transparent pearls
Hanging from pine boughs.
In its wake,
Wolf clouds
Devour the Moon.

Today,
Orphan of Green
Abandoned by Red and Yellow and Orange
Its wail of revenge
Sends shivers through naked maples.
Gone is the love song
Of the trees.
Gone is the sweet smell
Of earth laid bare
Cooled from solar passion.
Gone, all gone
With the Great Star’s migration
South.

Then, the descending dark
The ebony that
Surrounds,
Contracts
The Universe
Persuading heavenly bodies
Toward sleep
In the firm bosom
Of the Earth Mother.

RAINBOWS LIVE A THOUSAND YEARS

Rainbows live a thousand years,
Dreams live forever.
How can we divide a dream
Into beginning
or end.
Of what is reality
made.
A dream slides
through reality.
A footstep
in the sand
A part of a journey
no more,
no less.
But a journey ends.
Dreams go on.
Rainbows
Live a thousand years
Dreams live
forever.
