The Yacht NORTHANGER
14.15 metre steel ketch
Damien II Design by Michael Joubert
Hull professionally built in UK 1982

The Damien II design was constructed with the concept of a need for a sailboat which could withstand the rigours of passage through the rough seas of high latitudes and the ice laden waters of the Arctic and Antarctic regions. The hull is designed to "pop up" if trapped between ice floes. The retractable keel gives less than one metre draught enabling access to shallower, safer anchorages. Storage capacities for fuel, water, food and gear make extended trips possible without the necessity to resupply.
