I set up at weather station at Nitinat Lake for
the July 8 Weekend. Saturday was a classic 4.0 to 5.0 day with a fog bank
that came right up to our campsite later in the day. I sailed my 5.0 sail
on my 8'5" Carve99 for 5 hours and I could have used a 4.5 at some times.
Sunday was a different story. The marine cloud that gave us our classic
conditions on Saturday failed to burn off. This made for some challenging
conditions for the Sunday Race. Big sails and boards had the advantage.
I sailed a 6.5 sail on my Starboard GO Board. The Kite sailors were also
having some light wind fun.
