(I had originally misquoted this as "The stars are for everyone."
Perhaps I was thinking, in counterpoint, of what Arthur C. Clarke wrote at the close of Childhood's End: "The stars are not for men.")
Dr. Hogg's inspiration was a song by Buddy De Sylva & Lew Brown, 'The Best Things in Life are Free' (1927):
