The Association
The
National Trust Bournemouth Association was founded in 1985
but is now known as the National Trust Bournemouth and Poole Association to
reflect the area where
most of its members live.
The Association welcomes
members and volunteers from its area. The
Association is independent of the National Trust but is governed by a
constitution common to all the Trust's associations and centres. Our
affairs are conducted by a committee that is elected at our Annual General
Meeting held in March of each year. Committee members hold their posts
until the
next Annual General Meeting.
The Association’s objectives are:
- to promote the work of the National Trust
- to arrange a programme of events for the
enjoyment of its members
- to raise funds in support of local National
Trust projects.
Among the National Trust properties we support are the Kingston Lacy estate,
Brownsea Island, the Studland area and Corfe Castle.
At Kingston Lacy we have contributed to the cost of the reinstatement of the
Guido Reni fresco in the Library, the restoration of pictures and provided
funds for the Bankes family interpretation boards.
More recently we have purchased a bull to run with the Kingston Lacy herd of
North Devon cattle. To read about ‘Percy’ click

This year we provided funds for the restoration and replacing of
four Edwardian statues and for two picnic benches.
On Brownsea Island we have contributed towards the cost of the
regeneration of heathland, last year funds were provided for the purchase
of five benches in the visitor’s courtyard while we added this year
several decorative flowerpots there.
To
view what we have achieved at these properties it is best to make a personal visit
to see the results.
