Blue skies and bright sunshine on new snow - bell clanging, trailing its white plume, the eastbound Kootenay Express rolls to a stop alongside the station platform. The 1909 building, nicely refurbished, now watches trains from its new foundations across the street from these tracks. The mountains are the Lizard Range of the Rockies, and the locomotive was a G2D 'Pacific' type built in the same year as the station.
