On the eve of the change-over from steam to diesel-electric power, some eight to ten trains per day rolled through Banff National Park on Canadian Pacific’s Transcontinental line carrying passengers and mail. In a scene from that era, a pair of female elk vie for attention with the big Selkirk locomotive at the station platform.
