5. At the end of May we took a two-week driving vacation through the Cariboo region of B.C. The highlight was the day we spent in Barkerville, a boom town in one of the ____ Rushes that took place in B.C. In 1861, a miner named Billy Barker arrived in the region, along with a wave of prospectors from all over North America and the world. While here, Barker struck a fabulously rich pay streak. As a result, in 1862, Barkerville was born, helping set the stage for the settlement of British Columbia and its eventual confederation with Canada. Many old buildings remain and others have been superbly restored or reconstructed. Actors play roles of people who would have lived and worked in Barkerville at its height. There is a small Anglican church that is staffed each summer by an Anglican seminarian who celebrates morning and evening prayer every day. We attended evening prayer and the seminarian asked us to read the scripture passages of the day. We should have scheduled two days to take it all in instead of only the one day we had. We will return and recommend all of you to visit this marvellous exhibition of Canadian history.

27. Abbreviation of an organization mostly of women who claim to be validly ordained Roman Catholic Women Priests. The initial ordinations were performed in secret by some Roman Catholic bishops who disagreed with the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church that women are incapable of receiving the sacrament of Holy Orders. The organization approached Alanna in her capacity as the minister of Centennial United Church in Victoria to ask if they could use the church to celebrate the ordination of two women to the priesthood. With the consent of the church board, the ordinations took place on 17 April of this year. The ordaining bishop was Bishop Patricia Fresen. Alanna was among the ordained ministers from different churches who participated in the laying-on-of-hands part of the ordination ritual. I provided technical assistance with the church's sound system. You can read an account of the ordination in The Journal, which can be read online at <http://www.corpuscanada.org/pdf journal/2010/2010 No. 2 Apr-Jun.pdf>. She did and the participants gave her high marks. I recommend the ____ system to anyone who wants to grow in self-knowledge.

I'll admit there are no better fans in the world. She won again this year but I'm sure the Lions gave her a scare when they forced the game into double overtime.
