Welcome to Constable Matheson`s Artisan Cottage B&B. Constable Matheson`s is a spacious, artfully decorated attached cottage that historically was Sooke`s first police station. In 1993 the building was purchased by feltmaking artist Sheila Beech who has lovingly refurbished it to be her home, studio, gallery shoppe, and bed & breakfast cottage. The 700 sq ft attached cottage has a kitchen that is well stocked with homemade breakfast fixings for an indepentant stay. In the bedroom you will find a wonderfully handcrafted queen sized bed surrounded by funky furniture and art. The cozy sitting room features a jacuzzi by the fire over looking the private garden area. To round out your stay, that private garden also yields fresh fruit for picking and a lovely peaceful yard for guests to enjoy. Every nook of this delightful suite and artisan gallery reflects warmth, creativity and hospitality.

The cottage is centrally located to all amenities including the Sooke Regional Museum, indoor pool, restaurants, shopping, galleries, bicycle rentals & trails, as well as a fresh seafood shop by the beach. The Galloping Goose Trail (great walking, running and cycling) is within 1 km of the cottage and the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park is just a short drive or cycle away.

Exhibit Room III Gallery Shoppe, Sheila`s feltmaking studio is on site and open for guests and visitors anytime. (just ring the bell). While best known for her GnomeKnocker slippers, Sheila also creates fabulous wearable art and designs for interiors. In 1999 Sheila created hand made felt for New York Designer Donna Karan, and in 2001 she produced 20 sq. yards of material for the Metropolitan Opera in New York. It was a thrill for the designer to go to New York to see the opera and the costumes made with her fabric. With each visit to the shoppe you will discover something new, enticing you to come again and again.
