Meriadoc Beagles

My love of dogs has been a lifelong affair, however, I didn't get my first dog until 1985. It was a Beagle and since then, they have become a permanent part of my life. Meriadoc Beagles is a hobby kennel; I breed occasionally and strive for quality, not quantity. My puppies are raised underfoot and homes are carefully

The Name
In 1986, I applied to the Canadian Kennel Club for a registered kennel name; in deciding on a name to submit, I came up with Meriadoc.
It is the name of one of the main characters in JRR Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings". Merry Brandybuck (proper name Meriadoc) is part of the Fellowship of the Ring, a companion and protector of
Frodo the Ring Bearer; he is a loyal and stalwart friend who also loves a good time. An apt description for a Beagle I thought, and so, Meriadoc Beagles was born.
