Personal computer history:

  • 1978 - Intel introduces the 4.77 MHz 8086 microprocessor. It uses 16-bit registers, a 16-bit data bus, and 29,000 transistors, using 3-micron technology. Price is US$360. It can access 1 MB of memory. Speed is 0.33 MIPS. Later speeds included 8 MHz (0.66 MIPS) and 10 MHz (0.75 MIPS).
  • 1981 - Xerox announces the Xerox 820 Information Processor computer. It uses the Z80 CPU, CP/M, and BASIC. The price with a dual disk drive and display is US$2995. During its development, it was code-named The Worm.
  • 1997 - Digital Equipment releases Venturis FX-2 computers, featuring 166 or 200 MHz AMD K6 processors. Prices start at US$1250.
  • 1999 - Apple Computer ships QuickTime 4 software for the Macintosh. This release adds MP3 audio support.
  • 2004 - Apple Computer introduces a new Power Mac G5 computer. It features dual 2.5 GHz IBM PowerPC 970FX processors, 1.25 GHz front-side bus, liquid cooling system, 512 MB RAM, 160 GB hard drive, ATI Radeon 9600 XT graphics card with 128 MB RAM, 8X SuperDrive. Price is US$2999.
  • 2004 - Apple Computer introduces a new Power Mac G5 computer. It features dual 1.8 GHz processors, 256 MB RAM, 80 GB hard drive, Nvidia GeForceFX 5200 Ultra graphics card with 64 MB RAM, 8X SuperDrive. Price is US$1999.
  • 2006 - Chile issues a postage stamp depicting students using personal computers.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1925 - Disney completes the 18th Alice Comedy film, Alice Wins the Derby.
  • 1925 - Disney ships the Alice Comedy film Alice Wins the Derby to M.J. Winkler Productions.
  • 1932 - The Mickey Mouse film Musical Farmer is released to theaters.
  • 1933 - Disney cancels William Levy's merchandising contract in England.
  • 1934 - The Silly Symphony film The Wise Little Hen is released to theaters. Donald Duck makes his film debut, with a voice supplied by Clarence Nash. Nash also voices the character Peter Pig.
  • 1939 - The Donald Duck film Beach Picnic is released to theaters. Pluto also appears.
  • 1950 - The Pluto film Puss-Cafe is released.
  • 1962 - The KTTV TV station in Los Angeles, California, begins airing the weekly series Meet Me at Disneyland.
  • 1978 - Disney releases the film The Sign of Zorro in theaters in the US.
  • 1984 - The TV series The Disney Family Album begins airing on The Disney Channel.
  • 1984 - Donald Duck and Clarence Nash lead a ticker-tape parade through Disneyland, celebrating 50 years since Donald Duck's film debut in The Wise Little Hen.
  • 1984 - The Laserphonic Fantasy show debuts on World Showcase Lagoon in EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World.
  • 1989 - Buena Vista Pictures Distribution generally releases the film Dead Poets Society to theaters in the USA.
  • 1990 - The NBC TV network begins airing the Singer & Sons show.
  • 1993 - Disney makes a limited release of the film What's Love Got to Do with It to theaters in the US.
  • 1997 - The Au Petit Café restaurant in the France pavilion at Epcot in Walt Disney World closes.
  • 2000 - Buena Vista Pictures releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Gone in Sixty Seconds to theaters in the USA.
  • 2006 - Disney releases the Disney-Pixar computer-animated feature film Cars in theaters in the USA.
  • 2007 - The Cars Quatre Roues Rallye attraction opens in Toon Studio at Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris.
  • 2007 - The Crush's Coaster attraction opens in Toon Studio at Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris.
  • 2009 - The ABC TV network airs the last According to Jim TV show.
  • 2013 - The Lifetime TV network airs the last Army Wives TV show.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1969 - The labor dispute is resolved, allowing 1969 model Corvette production to resume.
  • 1973 - In Le Mans, France, the 24 Hours of Le Mans race is held, over two days.
    • Finishing 1st in GT 5000+ class and 12th overall is the Greder Racing Team #30 Corvette driven by Henri Greder and Marie-Claude Beaumont.
    • Finishing 2nd in GT 5000+ class and 18th overall is the Ecurie Léopard #69 Corvette driven by Jean-Claude Aubriet and Depnic.
    • John Greenwood and Bob Johnson race the John Greenwood #29 Corvette until the engine fails.

  • 1993 - The 10th annual One Lap of America race is held, over four days. A Callaway SuperNatural Corvette, sponsored by Bridgestone, wins the race on an intentionally flat tire, demonstrating the reliability of Bridgestone's Run Flat tire.
  • 1996 - The Car and Driver One Lap of America races are held, over seven days. Chuck Mallett enters a 1050-hp modified Corvette Grand Sport, driven by Jim Minneker. It finishes 36th overall due to reliability problems. It crosses the finish line of one race at 219 MPH.
  • 2007 - At the Watkins Glen International raceway in Watkins Glen, New York, the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen race is held, round seven of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.
    • Finishing 12th in GT class and 31st overall is the Stevenson Automotive #57 Corvette driven by Dominic Cicero and Marc Bunting.
    • Finishing 16th in GT class and 35th overall is the Stevenson Automotive #97 Corvette driven by Tommy Riggins and Vic Rice.
    • Finishing 17th in GT class and 36th overall is the Team Sahlen #43 Corvette driven by Joe Nonnamaker and Wayne Nonnamaker.
    • Finishing 21st in GT class and 40th overall is the Team Sahlen #42 Corvette driven by Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker.

World War II history:

  • 1944 - The 10th Destroyer Flotilla of British, Polish, and Canadian warships sink German destroyer ZH-1 in the English Channel.
