  • 1994 - Paramount Pictures releases the film Beverly Hills Cop 3 to theaters in the USA.
    • A personal computer appears, used to monitor the park.
    • A personal computer is used in control of counterfeiting money.

  • 1994 - Acclaim releases the Mortal Kombat video game for personal computers in the US.
  • 1999 - Corel releases Corel WordPerfect Office 2000 software. It includes WordPerfect 9, Quattro Pro 9, Corel Presentations 9, CorelCentral 9, Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications, and Trellix 2. Standard price is US$99, professional version is US$199.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1935 - The Silly Symphony film The Cookie Carnival is released to theaters.
  • 1938 - Work on the animated film Pluto's Robot Twin is canceled.
  • 1955 - Disney releases the live-action short film Arizona Sheepdog to theaters.
  • 1955 - Buena Vista releases Disney's live-action feature film Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier to theaters in the US. It is a compilation of the first three Davy Crockett episodes aired on TV.
  • 1981 - The Kindercare Center child-care facility opens at Walt Disney World.
  • 1983 - The newly renovated Fantasyland re-opens at Disneyland. The drawbridge of Sleeping Beauty Castle lowers for the second time.
  • 1983 - The Mickey's Christmas Chalet shop opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.
  • 1983 - The Village Haus Restaurant opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.
  • 1983 - The Pinocchio's Daring Journey ride opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland. Previous attraction in the location was Fantasyland Theater.
  • 1983 - The Village Inn opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.
  • 1983 - The new Snow White's Scary Adventures ride opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.

  • 2001 - Disney releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Pearl Harbor to theaters in the USA. The premiere of the film is held on the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis in Honolulu. The film cost US$140 million to produce.
  • 2005 - The live musical Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story premieres aboard the Disney Magic.
  • 2007 - Diney releases the live-action feature film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End to theaters in the USA.
  • 2007 - The Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island opens in Frontierland at Disneyland. The area was formerly called Tom Sawyer Island.
  • 2012 - The Walt Disney Pictures and UTV Motion Pictures animated film Arjun: The Warrior Prince is released to theaters in India and the USA.
  • 2012 - Disney Cruise Line's Disney Magic ship begins cruises from New York City, north to Canada and south to the Bahamas.
  • 2016 - Disney world premieres the film Alice Through the Looking Glass in Italy.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1953 - In Indianapolis, Indiana, the Custom Car Show includes Corvette show car #853.
  • 1956 - The 1636th 1956 Corvette is completed. This car is destined to become the third SR-2, for Harlow Curtice.
  • 1986 - In Indianapolis, Indiana, the 70th Indianapolis 500 race is held. An unmodified production yellow 1986 Corvette convertible is the official pace car, driven by retired Air Force General Chuck Yeager. The car is given to the race winner, Bobby Rahal.
  • 2008 - The 92nd annual Indianapolis 500 race is held, with a pair of Corvettes as official pace cars. One is a black and silver convertible commemorative edition marking the 30th anniversary of the 1978 Corvette Pace Car. The other is a customized metallic green Corvette Z06 modified to run on E85 ethanol fuel, and driven by Emerson Fittipaldi.

World War II history:

  • 1935 - German Chancellor Adolf Hitler agrees to not intevene in Austria or add Austria to the German Reich.
  • 1940 - The British Chiefs of Staff present a report to the War Cabinet entitled "British Strategy in a Certain Eventuality". If France collapses and German forces invade Great Britain, it is unlikely Britain could send naval forces to Singapore. In the event, the USA would have to be relied on to safeguard British interests in the Far East.
  • 1940 - (evening) In France, British commander John Gort cancels a planned advance to the south, and orders his troops north, so they could embark for England.
  • 1941 - (about 0100) The Bismarck and the Prince of Wales exchange a few shots at a range of ten miles, neither scoring a hit.
  • 1941 - (0306 hours) Cruiser Suffolk loses contact with the Bismarck.
  • 1941 - German forces launch a full-scale attack on Crete, capturing Galatas temporarily.
  • 1943 - German submarine U-414 under commander Walther Huth is lost with all hands (47 dead).
  • 1943 - German submarine U-467 under commander Heinz Kummer is lost with all hands (46 dead).
  • 1943 - (evening) 759 British bombers attack Düsseldorf, Germany.
  • 1944 - US 1st Armored and 3rd Infantry Division link up with 2nd Corps at Cori, Italy.
  • 1945 - American B-29 bombers make a major raid on Yokohama, Japan, with Mustang fighter plane escort from Iwo Jima. Twenty-six Japanese planes are shot down.
  • 1974 - France issues a postage stamp marking the 30th anniversary liberation, depicting General Marie-Pierre Koenig.
  • 1993 - Greece issues two postage stamps in remembrance of Greek fighting in the war.

Video game history:

  • 1994 - Paramount Pictures releases the film Beverly Hills Cop 3 to theaters in the USA. Someone says "This place is as high tech as NASA and Nintendo combined."
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Mario vs. Donkey Kong video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US and Canada.
  • 2010 - Activision releases the Blur video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
  • 2010 - Sony releases the ModNation Racers video game for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable in the US.
  • 2017 - The Deep End Games releases the Perception video game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the USA.

Swedish history:

  • 1627 - King Gustav Adolf is shot in the belly while directing an attack on Dantzic. The wound is not serious.
  • 1935 - Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark marries Ingrid, daughter of King Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden.

Canadian coin history:

  • 1965 - A new mint facility of the Royal Canadian Mint is established in Hull, Quebec, for striking collector coins.

USA coin history:

  • 1857 - The US Mint releases Flying Eagle cents to circulation, first small cents (0.75-inch diameter).
  • 1965 - U.S. Treasury officials announce that dollar coin production had been suspended.
  • 1965 - U.S. Mint Director Eva Adams orders the destruction of all recently-struck 1964-dated silver dollar coins.
  • 1978 - Representative James A. Leach introduces a bill calling for a Susan B. Anthony - Harriet Tubman dollar coin.
  • 2007 - US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson approves the design for the 2008 Hawaii State quarter dollar.

  • 1868 - Australian Aboriginal Cricket tour of England begins versus Surrey Gentlemen.
  • 1876 - First tie in National League history (Philadelphia Athletics and Louisville Grays, 2-2 in 14 innings).

  • 1985 - Bangladesh is hit by a tropical cyclone and storm surge, which kills approximately 10,000 people.

USA history:

  • 1787 - Constitutional convention opens at Philadelphia, George Washington presiding.

  • 1989 - Thirteen days after a Southern Pacific train derails, a Calnev pipeline explodes at the same section of Duffy Street in San Bernardino, California.
  • 1996 - Jennifer Maria Holsten, 18, crowned Miss Filipino-American.
  • 1997 - Strom Thurmond becomes the longest serving member in the history of the United States Senate (41 years and 10 months).
