  • 1985 - Atari launches the Atari 520ST personal computer. "ST" stands for 16 ("S") and 32 ("T").
  • 1985 - Kaypro introduces a slimmed-down version of its Kaypro 2861 computer, compatible with the IBM AT, for US$2995.
  • 1997 - Apple Computer introduces the PowerBook 2400c notebook computer. It features 180 MHz PowerPC 603e processor, 1.3 GB hard drive, 10.4-inch active-matrix color display, two PC Card slots. Weight is 4.4 pounds; price is to be about US$3500. Availability is end of May in Japan, and end of July in the US.
  • 2011 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse appear.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1988 - The ABC TV network airs The Disney Sunday Movie, entitled Splash, Too part two.
  • 2000 - Walt Disney World hosts the Global Children's Summit for The Millenium Dreamers over three days. 2000 students from around the world are selected to participate based on achievements.
  • 2011 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A character tells about watching the Finding Nemo movie, watching a chapter where Nemo loses his mother.
  • 2011 - The ABC TV network airs the last Brothers & Sisters TV show.

World War II history:

  • 1941 - British corvette HMS Aubretia and destroyers HMS Bulldog and HMS Broadway capture German submarine U-110 off Iceland. An Enigma encoding machine is captured, and captain Fritz-Julius Lemp (responsible for sinking passenger liner Athenia at start of war) is taken prisoner.
  • 1941 - (evening) British Bomber Command sends 359 aircraft against targets in the Hamburg-Bremen area of Germany.
  • 1941 - (evening) German planes make a seventh consecutive night bombing of Liverpool, England. Over the seven days, 870 tonnes of high explosive and 112,000 incendiary bombs were dropped on the important port city. 4,000 residents died.
  • 1942 - (0815 hours) American aircraft locate the carriers Shokaku and Zuikaku in the Coral Sea.
  • 1942 - (0815 hours) Japanese aircraft locate the carriers Lexington and Saratoga.
  • 1942 - (0900 to 0925 hours) Japanese and American carriers launch planes against each other.
  • 1942 - (1057 hours) American plane attacks on carrier Shokaku inflict serious damage.
  • 1942 - (1118 hours) Japanese planes attack carriers Yorktown and Lexington.
  • 1942 - (1120 hours) American aircraft carrier Lexington is struck by a torpedo.
  • 1942 - German General Erich von Manstein's army launches a thrust into the Kerch peninsula of the Crimea, shattering three Russian armies, capturing 169,000 prisoners.

  • 2006 - At a press conference in Los Angeles before the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony announces the PlayStation 3, with motion-sensing Bluetooth wireless Sixaxis controller and Blu-Ray high-definition DVD player. Prices are US$499 with 20 GB hard drive, and US$599 with 60 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi wireless, and HDMI video output. Release date is set at November 11 for Japan and November 17 for the USA.
  • 2007 - Electronic Arts releases the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars video game for the Xbox 360 in the US.
