  • 1983 - IBM Japan announces the IBM 5550 Multistation in Japan. It features an 8 MHz Intel 8086 microprocessor, 256 kB RAM (expandable to 512 kB), up to three 640 kB capacity floppy drives, display with 1024x768 graphics monochrome or 360x512 in four colors, for US$4200-10000 with screen, printer, and keyboard.
  • 1983 - A Taipei, Taiwan, high court upholds Apple Computer's charges against Sunrise Computer Service and Golden Formosa Microcomputer of making and selling pirated copies of patented Apple software products.
  • 1989 - Antic Software begins the Amiga Plus magazine.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1930 - Disney completes the Silly Symphony film Cannibal Capers.
  • 1940 - The Donald Duck film The Riveter is released to theaters.
  • 1964 - The NBC TV network airs the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show, featuring For the Love of Willadean, part two.
  • 1974 - The Circle-Vision 360 film America the Beautiful closes at Walt Disney World.
  • 1975 - The revised film America the Beautiful opens at the Circle-Vision 360 theater at Walt Disney World.
  • 1987 - The Pickett Suite Resort hotel opens on Lake Buena Vista at Walt Disney World.
  • 1987 - The ABC TV network airs The Disney Sunday Movie, entitled Young Harry Houdini.
  • 1991 - The Disney Afternoon Avenue exhibit area debuts in Fantasyland at Disneyland.
  • 1991 - The Baloo's Dressing Room attraction opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.
  • 1991 - The Plane Crazy musical show opens at the Videopolis in Disneyland.
  • 1991 - The Fantasyland Autopia at Disneyland is temporarily renamed Rescue Rangers Raceway.
  • 1991 - The Motor Boat Cruise at Disneyland is temporarily renamed Motor Boat Cruise to Gummi Glen.
  • 1994 - Nevis issues ten postage stamps depicting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
  • 1996 - Buena Vista Pictures releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Two Much to theaters in the US.
  • 2005 - Touchstone releases the film The Incredibles on DVD in the USA.
  • 2009 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A copy of a film mocks the title of the Disney film Ratatouille as "RATATOOEY". A rat on a man's head pulls two of his hairs to make him cook, like in the movie.
  • 2020 - Walt Disney World closes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1977 - Chevrolet general manager Robert Lund drives the 500,000th Corvette, a white Stingray T-Top, off the assembly line in St. Louis.
  • 1995 - At the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, the 12 Hours of Sebring race is held. Placing 21st in GTS-1 class and 52nd overall is the Doug Rippie #06 Corvette ZR-1 driven by Bill Cooper, Scott Maxwell, and Chris McDougall. The car is not running at the finish due to mechanical problems.
  • 1997 - At the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, the 12 Hours of Sebring race is held. Placing 8th in GTS-2 class and 61st overall is the Kim Baker #31 Corvette driven by John Heinricy, Stuart Jones, and Kim Baker. The car is not running at the finish due to a fire.
  • 2002 - At the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, Round 1 of the Speed World Challenge GT Series is held.
    • Finishing 4th is the Aggregate Industries / Lucht's Concrete #73 Corvette Z06, driven by Phil McClure.
    • Finishing 9th is the Metric Chemical #35 Corvette Z06, driven by David Farmer.

  • 2003 - At the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, the 51st Annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring race is held, round one of the American Le Mans Series. Corvette is the official pace car.
    • Finishing 1st in GTS and 8th overall is the #3 Corvette C5-R, driven by Johnny O'Connell, Ron Fellows, and Franck Fréon.
    • Finishing 3rd in GTS and 26th overall is the #4 Corvette C5-R, driven by Oliver Gavin, Kelly Collins, and Andy Pilgrim. The car is not running at the finish, due to a broken driveshaft at ten hours.

World War II history:

  • 1939 - German troops occupy the Czech parts of Bohemia and Moravia.
  • 1939 - Czech president Emil Hacha accepts Adolf Hitler's demand to surrender the entire country.
  • 1939 - German troops enter the capital of Czechoslovakia, Prague. Adolf Hitler declares "Czechoslovakia has ceased to exist".
  • 1941 - German commander in the West Gerd von Rundstedt is replaced by von Witzleben.
  • 1942 - Adolf Hitler predicts a German victory over Russia by the end of Summer.
  • 1942 - Submarine U-161 torpedoes and sinks Canadian merchant ship Sarniadoc in the Caribbean. There are no survivors.
  • 1944 - Allies launch another attack on Cassino. Over eight hours, 1000 tons of bombs are dropped, and 190,000 shells are fired on the town. By nightfall, two-thirds of the town is in Allied hands.
  • 1944 - Japanese forces in Burma cross Chindwin, attacking Imphal. At the town of Kohima on a 5000-foot ridge, about 3000 British, Indian, and Nepalese soldiers are besieged by a Japanese division.
  • 1944 - (evening) British bombers attack railway targets in Amiens, France. Much damage is inflicted.
  • 1945 - Soviets begin a bombardment of besieged Breslau, and troops attack from all sides.
  • 1945 - (evening) 267 British bombers attack Hagen, Germany. 30,000 people are made homeless.
  • 1946 - In Transylvania, Rumania, the People's Tribunal of Cluj sentences 43 officers and men of the former Hungarian army to varying penalties for crimes committed during the war: 23 to death, eight to life in prison, six to 25 years, and six to 20 years hard labor.
  • 2001 - Mongolia issues a 300-tugriks postage stamp depicting World War II, part of a series on 20th Century Events.
  • 2010 - Tajikistan issues two postage stamps marking the 65th anniversary of victory in World War II.

Video game history:

  • 1997 - In Seattle, Washington, the GameWorks video arcade opens. Partners of the GameWorks company are DreamWorks, Universal Studios, and Sega Enterprises of Japan. The main attraction is the Vertical Reality interactive game designed by Steven Spielberg. Up to twelve players are seated around columns of three video screens; as cyborgs are shot, the player is raised, with the object being to reach the top. Cost to play is US$4.
  • 2001 - Sony CEA and Connectix end their legal fight over PlayStation 2 emulation software by agreeing to jointly develop the software. Sony will acquire all assets of Connectix related to the Virtual Game Station software.
  • 2002 - Screen Gems releases the film Resident Evil to theaters in the US. The film is based on the video game of the same title.
  • 2005 - Electronic Arts releases the Medal of Honor: Dogs of War video game for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 in the US.
  • 2006 - Sony announces the PlayStation 3 will not go on sale in the spring, but will be released after November.
  • 2011 - Konami releases the Hard Corps: Uprising video game for the PlayStation 3 in the US.
  • 2011 - Capcom releases the Okamiden video game for the Nintendo DS in the US.

Swedish history:

  • 1907 - Birth of Zarah Stina Hedberg in Karlstad, Sweden; stage and film actor and singer as Zarah Leander (dies 1981).
  • 2002 - Trade Minister Björn Rosengren presents a new policy for the gradual phase-out of nuclear power plants in Sweden, over a period of 40 years.

USA coin history:

  • 1968 - The Bureau of the Mint halts buying and selling gold.
  • 1979 - Senator James A. McClure of Idaho introduces S. 682 Historic Coin Preservation Act in the US Senate, to require Mint to send to Smithsonian at least two of each pattern, experimental, trial strikes for permanent inclusion in national coin cabinet.
  • 2011 - Representative Ron Paul of Texas introduces H.R. 1098 the "Free Competition in Currency Act of 2011" in the US House of Representatives, seeking to repeal the legal tender laws, prohibit taxation on certain coins and bullion, and repeal superfluous sections of the law related to coinage.

Sports history:

  • 1869 - Cincinnati Red Stockings become the first professional baseball team.
  • 1869 - Cincinnati Red Stockings beat Antioch 41-7 in baseball.
  • 1877 - Commencement of first Test Cricket, Australia versus England at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
  • 1897 - First indoor fly casting tournament opens, at Madison Square Garden, New York.
  • 1912 - Pitcher Cy Young retires from baseball with 511 wins.
  • 1935 - George Headley completes 270 in cricket versus England at Kingston.
  • 1945 - Bert Shepard (one legged WWII veteran) tries out as a pitcher for Washington Senators.
  • 1945 - Brooklyn Dodgers open spring training at Bear Mountain, New York.
  • 1948 - Donald Bradman scores 115 for the Australian cricket team versus Western Australia.
  • 1953 - Patty Berg wins LPGA Titleholders Golf Championship.
  • 1953 - Federal Republic of Germany loses in soccer to Netherlands, 2-1.
  • 1958 - Oscar Robertson of Cincinnati scores a NCAA midwest region-record 56 points.
  • 1958 - Cincinnati Royals' basketball star Maurice Stokes collapses during a playoff game with encephalitis; he goes into a coma and is permanently disabled.
  • 1959 - Louise Suggs wins LPGA Titleholders Golf Championship.
  • 1962 - Donald Jackson of Canada is first to land a triple lutz ice skate jump.
  • 1962 - Wilt Chamberlain is first to score 4,000 points in an NBA season.
  • 1968 - Bob Beamon sets indoor long jump record (27 feet 2.75 inches).
  • 1975 - Jevgeni Kulikov skates world record 500 metre (37.99 seconds).
  • 1978 - Oakland Athletics trade Vida Blue to San Francisco Giants for seven players and US$390,000.
  • 1979 - New York Islanders' Bryan Trottier's 5th career hat trick.
  • 1979 - Sarfraz takes 9-86 at Melbourne Cricket Ground as Australia lose 7-5 to lose the Test.
  • 1981 - Patty Hayes wins LPGA Sun City Golf Classic.
  • 1983 - Karnataka beats Bombay on first innings to win cricket Ranji Trophy.
  • 1985 - Larry Holmes TKOs David Bey in ten rounds for heavyweight boxing title.
  • 1987 - Last day in Test cricket for Larry Gomes and Joel Garner.
  • 1987 - New Zealand beats West Indies by five wickets in Jeremy Coney's last Test Cricket.
  • 1987 - US Davis Cup team loses to Paraguay.
  • 1988 - NFL's Saint Louis Cardinals officially move to Phoenix, Arizona.
  • 1989 - New York Rangers retire goalie Eddie Giacomin's number 1 uniform.
  • 1991 - Sergei Bubka pole vaults record 20.25 feet.
  • 1992 - Brandie Burton wins LPGA Ping/Welch's Golf Championship.
  • 1993 - Vinod Kambli scores 227 versus Zimbabwe, his second consecutive Test 200.
  • 1994 - Experts from American League certify Cleveland Indian's Jacobs Field is properly lit.
  • 1997 - Pittsburgh Penguins' Joe Mullen is first American to score 500 NHL goals.
  • 1998 - Welch's/Circle K Golf Championship.
  • 2006 - (to March 26) The 2006 Commonwealth Games take place in Melbourne, Australia.
  • 2009 - In Cyprus, round 3 of the FIA World Rally Championship is won by Sébastien Loeb.
  • 2009 - Alberta's Kevin Martin wins his fourth Canadian championship curling Brier title in Calgary, defeating Jeff Stoughton 10-4 in the final game.
  • 2022 - At SAP Center in San Jose, California, USA, NHL regular season game: Florida Panthers beats San Jose Sharks by score 3-2.
  • 2022 - At crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, USA, NHL regular season game: Colorado Avalanche beats Los Angeles Kings by score 3-0.
  • 2022 - At Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, NHL regular season game: Vancouver Canucks beats New Jersey Devils by score 6-3.
  • 2022 - At Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, NHL regular season game: Edmonton Oilers beats Detroit Red Wings by score 7-5.
