Since 1995, I have been collecting information on a variety of topics, creating several timelines of history. Personal computer history:

  • 1995 - Be introduces the BeBox. It features two 66 MHz PowerPC 603 processors, no Level 2 cache, three PCI and four ISA slots, two MIDI ports, four serial ports, one parallel port, two joystick ports, and stereo input/output ports. Prices start at US$1600 for a bare system without memory, disk, keyboard, or monitor.
  • 1999 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs the Futurama TV show in the US. A university campus dormitory in year 3000 includes what appears to be an original Apple Computer Macintosh computer.
  • 1999 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A small handheld computer is used, with a small text screen.
  • 2000 - Handspring begins selling its handheld computers in Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
  • 2001 - Belize issues a postage stamp depicting personal computers in use.
  • 2010 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A computer and wired mouse are used to access web sites.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1927 - Universal Pictures releases the fifth Oswald the Lucky Rabbit film, The Mechanical Cow, to theaters.
  • 1941 - The Pluto film Lend a Paw is released to theaters. Mickey Mouse also appears. The film is a re-make of the film Mickey's Pal Pluto.
  • 1947 - The Mickey Mouse film Mickey's Delayed Date is released. Pluto and Minnie Mouse also appear.
  • 1955 - The ABC TV network launches Disney's second TV show The Mickey Mouse Club. It is a daily one-hour series, showing cartoons and introducing the talents of the "Mouseketeers".
  • 1956 - The ABC TV network airs the Disneyland TV show, featuring the film Rob Roy, part one.
  • 1958 - The ABC TV network airs the Walt Disney Presents TV show, featuring the first "Elfego Baca" episode, The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca.
  • 1965 - The NBC TV network airs the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show, entitled The Further Adventures of Gallegher: The Big Swindle.
  • 1971 - The Peter Pan's Flight attraction opens in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
  • 1971 - The NBC TV network airs The Wonderful World of Disney show, featuring Hacksaw, part two.
  • 1984 - Sid Bass buys Ivan Boesky's 1.52 million Disney shares for US$60 each, bringing Bass Brothers Enterprises' share of the company up to 16 percent.
  • 1984 - The Walt Disney Employees Association is formed.
  • 1986 - Disney releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Tough Guys to theaters in the US.
  • 1991 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show. The episode title "Three Men and a Comic Book" is a reference to previous Disney releases Three Men and a Baby and Three Men and a Little Lady.
  • 1993 - The Expo Robotics robot demonstration in Epcot closes.
  • 1994 - Dominica issues ten postage stamps marking the 65th anniversary of Mickey Mouse.
  • 1995 - Walt Disney Home Video releases the film Cinderella in the US on videocassette for US$26.99, and on laserdisc for US$39.99.
  • 1995 - Disney releases the animated film compilation Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too / Winnie the Pooh: Frankenpooh on laserdisc in the US, for US$30. It includes: Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too, The Monster Frankenpooh, Things that go Piglet in the Night, Pooh Moon.
  • 1996 - The World of Disney shop opens in the Disney Village Marketplace at Walt Disney World.
  • 1997 - The 100th and last episode of Bill Nye, the Science Guy airs.
  • 1998 - The Knight Shop at Disneyland closes.
  • 1998 - The Villains Lair shop opens in Fantasyland at Disneyland.
  • 1999 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs the Futurama TV show in the US. A photograph of two characters on a log flume ride is similar to the photo taken on the drop on Disney's Splash Mountain ride.
  • 2000 - Buena Vista Home Entertainment releases the film Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas on videocassette and DVD. Included are films Vincent and Frankenweenie.
  • 2000 - Buena Vista Home Entertainment releases the film James and the Giant Peach on videocassette and DVD.
  • 2000 - Disney releases the film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad on videocassette.
  • 2004 - The ABC TV network premieres the Desperate Housewives TV show.
  • 2005 - In Disneyland, in the forecourt of Sleeping Beauty Castle, about 1000 people part of display of "Mouseketeer Ears", to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland, The Mickey Mouse Club TV show, and the Mouseketeers. Ten of the original Mouseketeers are present at the resort for the celebration.
  • 2008 - Disney releases the film Beverly Hills Chihuahua to theaters in the USA.
  • 2009 - A ticker-tape parade is held for Buzz Lightyear at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to celebrate his return from 15 months in the International Space Station.
  • 2010 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US.
    • The title of a cartoon TV show "P.U." and style of writing it in the sky, and entire theme of the cartoon is reference to Disney-Pixar film Up.
    • Clouds in sky look like Mike from Monster's Inc, Wall-E from Wall-E, and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1952 - The Parts Fabrication group within General Motors completes building a prototype passenger-car body in fiberglass. It is 200 pounds lighter than a similar steel body.
  • 1982 - At the Sears Point International Raceway in Sonoma, California, the CRC Chemicals Trans-Am Championship - Round 10 race is held.
    • Finishing 9th is the Euro-Petroleum #9 Corvette, driven by Jerry Brassfield.
    • Finishing 10th is the Brandt #60 Corvette, driven by John Brandt.
    • In 19th place, but not finishing the race, is the Rick Stark Enterprises #17 Corvette, driven by Rick Stark.
    • In 20th place, but not finishing the race, is the Meek Racing #22 Corvette, driven by Mike Meek.
    • In 25th place, but not finishing the race, is the Merritt Tire #79 Corvette, driven by Larry Park.
    • In 27th place, but not finishing the race, is the Euro-Petroleum #3 Corvette, driven by Tony Brassfield.
    • In 28th place, but not finishing the race, is the Herb Forrest Racing #82 Corvette, driven by Herb Forrest.

  • 1982 - Points rankings of top ten finishing Corvette drivers at the end of the 1982 SCCA Trans-Am Championship series: 3rd Phil Currin, 7th Tony Brassfield, 8th Jerry Hansen.
  • 1985 - In Yosemite National Park, Chevrolet introduces the 1986 model Corvette, including the re-introduction of the convertible.
  • 1992 - The eighth and last race of the SCCA World Challenge Series is held at Sears Point Raceway, in Sonoma, California.
    • Finishing first is R.K. Smith in a Dieline Motorsport / Doug Rippie Motorsports Corvette.
    • In second place is Kim Baker in a Bakeracing Corvette.
    • Finishing fifth in class is Bill Cooper in another Dieline/Rippie Corvette.
    The champion of the series for the year is R.K. Smith, with Kim Baker second, and Bill Cooper third.
  • 2004 - At the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, the VIR 400 race is held, round ten of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series.
    • Finishing 7th in GT class and 25th overall is the SL Motorsports #06 Corvette, driven by Steve Lisa, David Rosenblum, and Chuck Hemmingson.
    • Finishing 11th in SGS class and 38th overall is the Michael Baughman Racing #46 Corvette, driven by Joe Toussaint and Mike Yeakle.

World War II history:

  • 1939 - British leaflet drops over Germany again halt, due to complaints from Belgium, Holland, and Denmark about airspace violations.
  • 1940 - Britain announces its intention to re-open the Burma Road to China.
  • 1941 - Adolf Hitler confidently tells the German people that the Soviet Union is virtually defeated.
  • 1942 - German scientists make the first successful test launch of an A-4 (V-2) rocket, from Peenemünde. Supersonic speed is achieved for the first time by a liquid-propelled rocket. The rocket reaches a height of 60 miles, travelling 120 miles at over 3000 MPH, landing 2.5 miles wide of the target.
  • 1943 - A British Special Services brigade lands beyond Termoli, on the north coast of Italy, quickly capturing the town behind German lines. Instead of retreating to Sangro River, the Germans counterattack to try to regain Termoli.
  • 1943 - German forces complete their evacuation of Corsica.
  • 1944 - The Warsaw uprising is completely destroyed. In two months of fighting, an estimated 200,000 Poles wre killed, ninety percent of them civilian. Estimated property losses are seventy percent of national wealth.
  • 1944 - German V-2 rocket launches against London are resumed.
  • 1944 - Over 250 British bombers bomb the dyke at Westkerpelle on Walcheren island. A large gap is created, flooding the inner area.

Video game history:

  • 1990 - Nintendo sends letters to its licensees, informing them that they are now free to manufacture their own game cartridges for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and to publish games on competitors' consoles.
  • 1991 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show. A character plays a Touch of Death martial arts video game in an arcade.
  • 1998 - The television show Mortal Kombat: Conquest first airs in the US.
  • 1999 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A home video game is played, showing a player skiing.
  • 2005 - Nintendo releases the Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness video game for the GameCube in the US.
  • 2005 - 2K Games releases the Conflict: Global Terror video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
  • 2006 - EA Sports releases the FIFA 07 video game for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance in the US.
  • 2006 - Sony CEA releases the NBA 07 Featuring the Life Vol. 2 video game for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in the US.
  • 2014 - Nintendo releases the Super Smash Bros. video game for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in the USA.
  • 2017 - Microsoft Studios releases the Forza Motorsport 7 video game for the Xbox One in the USA.

Swedish history:

  • 1632 - King Gustav Adolf and army arrive at Würzburg.
  • 1998 - Poland issues a postage stamp depicting Sigismund III Vasa, King of Sweden and Poland.

Canadian coin history:

  • 1911 - A new matrix for the dollar coin is produced at the Royal Mint, with the corrected legend.

USA coin history:

  • 1972 - World Wide Coin Investments buys the Fred Olsen specimen of the 1913 Liberty Head nickel for $100,000 from Edwin Hydeman.
  • 2005 - The US Mint begins production on 2005 West Virginia State quarter dollar.

Sports history:

  • 1920 - American Pro Football Association plays first games.
  • 1947 - With only one out to go, New York Yankees pitcher Floyd Beven gives up a double breaking his World Series no-hit bid; it scored two runs and he lost the game (World Series #44).
  • 1948 - NFL becomes first sport televised as sport of the week.
  • 1951 - The New York Giants win the pennant defeating Brooklyn Dodgers.
  • 1960 - New York Yankees win 8-7, ending season on a 15-game win streak.
  • 1965 - Whitey Ford pitches number 232 to become New York Yankees' winningest pitcher.
  • 1965 - On the last day of the season, San Francisco Giants' outfielder Willie Mays hits his 52nd home run to break the franchise record he established in 1955. San Francisco Giants defeat Cincinnati Reds at Candlestick Park, 6-3.
  • 1970 - Baseball umpires call their first strike.
  • 1971 - Billie Jean King becomes first female athlete to win $100,000.
  • 1972 - Steve Carlton wins 27th game for Philadelphia Phillies (almost half of their 59 wins).
  • 1982 - Cox 4 rowing record set at 12:52 for 99 miles (Geneva, Switzerland).
  • 1982 - Record 11,763 start a 186-mile cross-country race near Stockholm, Sweden.
  • 1982 - Scott Weiland runs Detroit marathon backwards in less than five hours.
  • 1987 - Michael Pruffer of France skis 135.26 MPH at Portillo, Chile.
  • 1990 - George Brett becomes first to lead league in batting in three decades.
  • 1990 - Detroit Tigers' Cecil Fielder becomes 11th to hit 50 home runs (and 51st).
  • 2004 - The Montreal Expos play their last baseball game in their 36-year history.
  • 2021 - At American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, USA, NHL pre-season game: Dallas Stars beats Arizona Coyotes by score 6-3.
  • 2021 - At Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, NHL pre-season game: Vancouver Canucks beats Winnipeg Jets by score 3-2.
  • 2021 - At PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, NHL pre-season game: Pittsburgh Penguins beats Detroit Red Wings by score 5-1.
  • 2022 - At Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, USA, National Football League regular season game: San Francisco 49ers beats Los Angeles Rams by score 24-9.

Space exploration history:

  • 1264 - Comet said to predict the death of Pope Urban IV is last seen.
  • 1962 - Wally Schirra in Sigma 7 launched into Earth orbit.
  • 1972 - Spaceflight 71-2 launched; first flexible substrate photovoltaic flown.
  • 1985 - 21st Shuttle Mission (51J)-Atlantis 1-all-military flight launched.
  • 1988 - 26th Space Shuttle Mission, Discovery 7 returns to Earth after four days.

Extreme weather history:

  • 1979 - A EF4 Tornado hits Windsor Locks, Connecticut, USA causing extensive damage to the town.

USA history:

  • 1789 - US President George Washington proclaims the first national Thanksgiving Day on November 26.
  • 1849 - Edgar Allan Poe is found unconscious in Baltimore, Maryland. He may have been a victim of "cooping", forced to vote repeatedly.
  • 1862 - Battle of Corinth, Mississippi, CSA.
  • 1863 - US President Abraham Lincoln designates last Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day.
  • 1913 - US Federal Income Tax signed into law (at 1 percent).
  • 1922 - First facsimile photo sent over city telephone lines, Washington, DC.
  • 1945 - World Federation of Trade Unions formed; CIO a member.
  • 1945 - The President signs Executive Order 9637, creating the Presidential Medal of Merit.
  • 1947 - First telescope lens 200 inches (508cm) in diameter completed.

  • 2005 - St. Tammany Parish Schools reopen in Louisiana, just over a month after Hurricane Katrina closed them.

  • 2007 - Hundreds of witnesses report seeing a flaming ball cross the skies of Minnesota, accompanied by a sonic boom, and a rain of debris.
  • 2008 - The U.S. House of Representatives approves the modified US$700 billion bank bailout plan, voting 263 in favor, 171 against. President George Bush quickly signs the bill into law.
  • 2008 - US President George Bush tells congress the US will sell US$6.5 billion worth of weaponry to Taiwan.
  • 2015 - A United States airstrike on a Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) hospital in Afghanistan accidentally kills an estimated 20 people.
