
Keith MacLeod was born in Quebec City, spent his childhood in Manitoba and moved to Vancouver as a teenager. His main clarinet instructors were Wes Foster, Ronald De Kant and in Chicago, Robert Marcellus. Keith has been Principal Clarinet of the Victoria Symphony since 1982. He has a wealth of professional experience, having performed with the Milwaukee Symphony and Ballet, Calgary Philharmonic and Winnipeg, Seattle and Vancouver Symphonies. As well, he is a successful chamber musician, and his performances in chamber ensembles as well as in symphony orchestras have been broadcast by the CBC. Keith has been a member of the faculties of the Wisconsin Conservatory, Douglas College, U.B.C. and currently teaches at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. He has conducted master classes in Spain and at the Marrowstone Music Festival in Washington. He is also a composer; among his chamber music compositions is an award winning Wind Quintet. He is an artist-in-residence for "Music by the Sea", Canada's major new festival and performance-residency at Bamfield.
