Rock Rogue Gallery - Images of rocks we think you would enjoy!Click the Thumbnail for a bigger image - We have tried to keep the image size down but be patient while they load. Click your Back button to return to this page. Hope Slide Jasper - A nice brown material similar to Biggs Jasper - various patterns - It got its name from the location it was discovered at - In 1965 (I may be wrong) BC had it's biggest recorded landslide on the Hope-Princeton Highway -when the dust settled half a mountain now lay in the valley at depths up to 200 ft., a lake had disappeared, the highway was buried and 4 people had died. To this day the site of this devastation is awe inspiring. This material takes a nice polish and because of the patterning tends to work best with larger cabs. Not a very well know material outside of the NW of North America. Chemanius Red Jasper - found in the Chemanius river valley area north of Victoria BC. A striking red colour and quite hard. Various Jaspers - These are images of some jaspers I have kicking around. I won't even try to put names to them - and yes one appears to be a granite but it is neat just the same. Parrot Wing Chryscolla - A fairly soft material - but just gorgeous - the picture doesn't do it justice! Also a piece of Mexican Crazy Lace Agate - another favourite! Rhodonite - A nice slab and a finished cab - It is really enjoyable to slab Rhodonite - you never can tell from the outside just what is going to be inside! Fountains - Yes at long last I have managed to get some images ready to go. The first one is my efforts and includes over 25 different types of rock. The second one is by my significant other and takes the other approach - it is executed entirely in rhodonite. Fluorite - This lovely light green material comes from Newfoundland (Thanks again Joe) - watch for more images - I am working on a gorgeous multi-hued green slab right now. The following are a bottom light fluorite obelisk about 3/4" square by 2" long and a stripped cab. Ocean Picture Stone - this material is getting hard to find but turns out some really nice slabs and cabs. It is not hard to see how it got its name, with some the layering of the brown creates islands in the background. One of my favourites. The colour came out better in the first image so use that as a guide. "Cat"achon - One of my critters waiting for me to turn my back so he can make one of the cabs I am looking at into a "under the stove" toy.
