Coast Salish Journey is a group of First Nation Coast Salish artists and artisans who have come together largely because of their commitment to the creation of unique Quality Commissions for their customers. The founder is Herb Rice.
Herbert Joseph Rice is a Coast Salish artist whose studio is located in charming Whippletree Junction, Transcanada Highway, Cowichan Bay, BC, Canada on Vancouver Island. He is a master wood carver whose work includes traditional as well as more contemporary pieces. His work varies in size from bowls to totem poles and has been commissioned by private collectors all over Europe and North America.Edgar Andrew Rice has been Herb's apprentice for the past twelve years. An excellent carver in his own right, he regularly fills orders for galleries in British Columbia and Washington State.
Susan Rankin is a musician who has collaborated with Herb. One example of their collaborations is The Myths of Kuper Island.
