Alhambra Palace

Mika Ezaki

When I thought about going to Spain five years ago, I hoped to go to Granada My friend who was traveling with me had already been to Granada, but she said she didn’t mind going there again.

I had wanted to go Granada since I was a high school student. I’ve liked studying history and it was there that I first read about Granada. The text book told me how Granada was built and that there was a big castle there, called Alhambra Palace. Muslim people tried to keep Granada as the capital of Granada Kingdom in the late 1400’s, however the failed. Alhambra Palace was the last fort for them. Though I don’t know why I got strong impression to it, to see Alhambra Palace became one of my dreams. I had wanted to go to Granada ever since.

The heat was remarkable. I usually don’t take any liquids, but I really needed to drink something every 30minutes when I was in Spain. The amount of water surprised my friend and I couldn’t believe myself.

When I first saw Alhambra Palace, the spectacle of it was breathtaking! From a small hill crowded with travelers admired the outside of the palace. I stayed there for two hours. But if I had had time, I would have spent more time for sure. The palace was glowing with the splendor of the setting sun. As sunset approached, the beauty of a snow-covered mountain shining pink and red rising beyond the palace –made me gasp- and inspired others to take photographs or paint or chat.
