Galoshe, by Gosh

(10 ways to beat the 'grays')

Sam Israel
Publisher of the Galileo and President of Galileo College

Death and taxes, and I might add Vancouver’s rainy winter weather are unavoidable.

But with the former there is absolutely no chance for enjoyment. However, it is possible to enjoy even the most dismal rainy Vancouver day; it just takes a bit of planning.

  1. Set your radio to wake you up with a high energy rock radio station.
  2. Have an automatic coffee maker prepare a rich cup of java to coincide with the wake-up call.
  3. Place a picture of a favorite man or woman dressed provocatively on the washroom wall.
  4. Purchase the best rain gear available.
  5. Play Singing  in the Rain through your headset as your step out the door.
  6. Dance down the street to the bus stop.
  7. Get on the bus and smile at the driver.
  8. When you arrive at work or school. Loudly sing the words: O what a beautiful morning!
  9. As you look around at your fellow workers or students, ignore their depressed looks and behavior.
  10. And last , but not least: remember that Vancouver had the mildest climate in Canada, the greenest environment and the freshest water.
