Activities

Many activities of the club occur on a spontaneous basis, following are those that re-occur annually.

The ‘shack’ (clubhouse) is manned every weekend and holiday with fishing licenses and bait for sale. Lots of good advice is available on what’s catching salmon or how to catch the big ones.

The Esquimalt Anglers participate each year in Esquimalt’s Buccaneer Days. This is a community fair in each June with a parade, midway and outdoor races and activities for children. We operate a seafood booth where the sale of Fish ‘n Chips and among other things serves as a fund raiser. The booth is manned by a crew of volunteer cooks and servers for the full two days that the fair operates. On Sunday evening there is a barbecue dinner hosted by the club for those who participated in the weekend’s work. A good time is had by all, there is plenty of work to go around and new volunteers are always welcome.

The Club Annual One Day Fishing Derby is held on the last Sunday of August each year and is open to all members. There are prizes in each of men’s, women’s and youth’s categories as well as ‘hidden weight’ and these prizes are hotly contested.   We plan to hold this year's Annual One Day Fishing Derby on August 24, 2008.

The club holds its Annual General meeting on the first Thursday of December at the clubhouse. Every member is invited to attend and eligible to vote for next year’s executive.
