Televised DebateIn the past, the leaders of the parties have requested a TV debate and set the ground rules (a threshold to eliminate third parties). In 2001, the Liberal and NDP leaders determined that a party must run in 70 constituencies to be included in the debate. The TV station did not set the criteria. The rules for any debate can be negotiated (i.e., the threshold could be 50). |
