I would like to join the Broad Coalition in urging British Columbians to
reject the BC Liberals on May 17th. It is
essential that voters think hard about voting without compromising their
values. It is equally important that voters consider voting strategically. So
the work of the Broad Coalition, generating grassroots discussion and getting
progressive voters to cooperate, is an important initiative."

NDP AND GREEN VOTER COOPERATION
Over the past four years of the BC Liberals' New Era, we have suffered massive cuts to education, healthcare, the environment and social assistance at the same time as massive tax cuts to the wealthy.
We have seen sweeping legislative changes that protect corporations and undermine workers' rights. We have seen profitable public assets sold or given away to foreign corporations.
The Broad Coalition believes that British Columbia will be completely privatized if we do not stop the Liberals in 2005.
This is an emergency calling for unusual measures.
For this election, we are ask all progressive voters to vote for the progressive candidate most likely to win in each riding. We have researched "at risk" constituencies, where a Liberal might be elected if progressives votes are not combined. Based on 1996, 2001 election results and current polling information we have identified 11 such constituencies. In these specific constituencies we advocate strategic voting. We have also developed a web-based vote pairing registry that facilitates the redistribution of Green and NDP votes in these constituencies. You can "exchange" your vote with a voter in another riding, so that both voters can honour their conscience AND be "strategic" at the same time. As the campaign unfolds and we gather more information we will make more endorsements and add new ridings to the Vote Pairing Registry.
We also support a Yes vote on the STV referendum. We can seize this one-time opportunity to update our electoral system and ensure Proportional Representation in Legislature. With this voting system ALL votes for progressive candicates will count.
We now have a archives section where you can take a look at our past publications and activities.
