DISCUSSION PAPER

The Broad Coalition: Grassroots Democracy at Work

In February 2002, a group of nonpartisan, NDP and Green women in Victoria met to share our concerns about what was happening to our province. We connected the Liberals' New Era agenda to the worldwide neoliberal agenda and decided that all progressives must work together to save British Columbia from corporate plunder of our resources and workforce. After nine months of meetings and consultations, we released a discussion paper as a call to action.

The discussion paper was disseminated widely during 2003 and formed the basis for discussion groups around the province. We received feedback and updated the paper. See text of Discussion Paper (pdf 353kb).

At the same time, but independently, the Vancouver-based Coalition for BC launched a website and online letter.
