The
Cowichan Valley - Canada's
Best-Kept Secret!
With
over 1,800 hours of annual sunshine, it's no wonder Cowichan means
"Warm Land" - in fact, the area is located in Canada's
only Maritime Mediterranean climatic zone.
Nestled
in the heart of these rolling hills, fertile valleys, and meandering
rivers, River Quest Charters is surrounded by a number of spectacular
natural attractions, including the TransCanada Trail, an Old Growth
Forest, and Lake Cowichan, a 26-mile long fresh-water playground.
Often
referred to as the “Provence” of Canada, the Cowichan
Valley boasts top-quality rural produce. Farm fresh vegetables,
meats and cheeses are on display at various farmers’ markets.
And if you’re a fan of the grape, a total of 12 excellent
wineries offer on-site tastings daily. And the whole region is an
antique-hunter's paradise!
Cowichan Bay Village is a delightful strip on the ocean with floating
houses, specialty shops, artisan studios and restaurants. Nearby
Chemainus boasts world-famous murals and world-class dinner theater.
And Duncan, the Cowichan's major community, has excellent restaurants,
shops, and entertainment. Known as the "City of Totems",
Duncan is home to the Quw'utsun First Nations Cultural & Conference
Centre. Try authentic Native cuisine at the Riverwalk Cafe just
next door!
There's
something for everyone in
the Cowichan Valley!
