This full day, on-site workshop can be booked at your location for up to 25 participants. We will teach you practical techniques to prevent and resolve public controversy through constructive citizen participation.

Two Day Intercultural Workshop
Participants whose mother tongue is not English sometimes need a little more time to absorb new ideas and apply them to their situation. We therefore offer this two-day workshop for up to 25 participants. The workshop schedule reflects local customs.

Review a program design framework e.g. situation, goals, program of work, level of effort, schedule and estimated budget. Participants nominate projects and form 3 - 5 design teams to work on them.
Note - if there is just one project in an in-house workshop, participants would review it individually overnight. |

Multimedia Workshop
The core elements in this program are: a 25-minute instructional video, a 30 page manual, and four one-hour conference calls, e.g. on four successive Monday afternoons.
Agenda
Unit 1:
Introduction and Presentation - after prework to review the video and a background paper, identify your issues and your personal learning goals for the course in the first conference call.
Unit 2:
Understanding Your Community - do prework to identify your own knowledge of your community, interview another resident and share your experiences in the conference call.
Unit 3:
Communicating with the Community - review and reflect on several papers on various ways to create two-way information exchange and share your views on the conference call.
Unit 4:
Designing a Public Participation Program - working with 1 - 2 others, design a program and review it with others in the conference call.
One or two personal learning goals will be dealt with in each of the above conference calls.
