Arrived in Canada in 1867 from Scotland and settled in Ontario.
Took up SW quarter of Section 16, Township 37, Range 6, West of the third meridian in 1901.
Was living in Saskatoon West when the 1901 Canadian Census was taken on March 31, 1901. See Census of Canada, 1901, Reel T06554, Saskatoon West wherein Alex Lindsay is listed as head of household. No spouse listed. Another source I read said the Lindsays (but for sons James and David and daughter Elizabeth) arrived in the District on April 1, 1901.
Loc'n. 8626 68 - 33A - S1/2
Joe Tiffin emailed me on March 19, 2006:
I found a date of birth of 9 Nov 1879 in (Minesing,)Vespra Twp.,Simcoe County,ON and date of death of 25 May 1884 again in Vespra Twp. for S(tewart) Andrew Lindsay per Ontario Birth and Death Registers.
Homesteaded on SW quarter of Section 3, Township 37, Range 6 (Edzell Dist., SK) in 1904. Moved to Smithville, SK in April 1914.
This from Joe Tiffin in an email dated Dec. 1, 2005:
"There is a note stating that William Tiffin homesteaded SW 3,37,6 which is unfortunately incorrect much to the financial detriment of my family. He in fact homesteaded SW 12,37,6 (Edzell District) in about 1892 and moved to SW 3 (Smithville) in 1914. They got caught up in a land scam which was being perpetrated in Saskatoon at that time and acquired such a mortgage that it took my father until the mid 1940s to pay it off."
Arrived from Ontario with her siblings and parents.
Died age 8 months
