FAQ'S 1 | 2Where is Bella Coola located? Q: Where is Bella Coola located? A: Unlike many other heliskiing lodges, getting to Bella Coola is simple, hassle free and fast! We are the easiest heliskiing operation to travel to in North America. This is why we are able to have you heliskiing/boarding on your arrival and departure days, resulting in more skiing for your dollar! Other operations cannot provide this. The flight from Vancouver to Bella Coola is only 1 hour and 15 minutes over the spectacular Coast Range Mountains.The Bella Coola Valley is located approximately 400 kilometres north of Vancouver and, in the Coast Range of British Columbia. Our base is located at the Tweedsmuir Lodge in the drier and sunnier eastern end of the Bella Coola Valley within Tweedsmuir Park. This is the largest provincial park in British Columbia. This base is 150 kilometres (90 miles) from the open ocean and immediately to the east is the high Chilcotin Plateau. The Brockton Inn is located approximately 40 km's from the lodge, in Hagensborg, and five minutes from Bella Coola Airport. View Location Map Q: Is all of the accommodation based on double occupancy? A: Yes but for a surcharge we can accept single accommodation requirements. Q: What if I have allergies or dietary requirements? A: We send out a client medical form with your registration. You can let us know in advance and we will meet any dietary requirements. We do our very best to accommodate all. Q: Are gratuities included in the tour price? A: No, but highly appreciated. Q: What is the difference between the Tweedsmuir Lodge tours and Big Mountain Heliskiing tours? A: It is the same heliskiing / boarding experience. We ski in the same BCHS terrain with the same fleet of A Star B2 helicopters, guides, equipment and small intimate groups. The BMH accommodation is a guest house style setting and the Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is a historic lodge withfull service. Q: How many people stay at the lodge and the Brockton Inn (Big Mountain Heliskiing), at the same time? A: Only 15 guests stay at either location. Q: How do I get the latest weather and snow conditions in your area? A: We have snow conditions posted throughout the season on our websites. If you need further clarification we ask that you telephone us at the lodge. 1.250.982.2407 during our BCHS seasonal operation. A: You can…… but there is no cell service in the valley. We suggest sharing a Satellite phone amongst your group unless you already have one. Regular telephone and fax service is available at both our locations. Q: Is there a high speed internet? A: Yes we have satellite wireless internet access at the lodge and in all of the chalets. The Brockton Inn also has IT access that you can use if need be. Q: Can I be reached at the Tweedsmuir Lodge and the Brockton Inn? A: Yes there is a guest line with answering service in the lodge and telephones in all the rooms at the Brockton. Q: I am a fisherman; can I bring my own rod and reel? A: Yes absolutely, although everything you will need is already in Bella Coola. For example: Rods, reels, waders and flys etc. So keep in mind your luggage restrictions and bring only what you absolutely must. Q: Is there a power converter needed for overseas guests? A: We are on 110 volts and you may need to bring an adapter if you have 220 / 240 volt equipment. A: Yes, your flights Vancouver to Bella Coola return are: however, your International flights or connecting flights to and from Vancouver are not included. Q: Can I fly my own plane into Bella Coola? A: If you wish to fly your own plane in you will need to contact us to make the necessary arrangements. Q: When should I receive my airplane tickets from Vancouver to Bella Coola return? A: You can pick up your tickets at the Pacific Coastal check in desk when you arrive at the South Terminal at the Vancouver Ariport. Our hostess will be there to greet you and assist in anything else you may need. Q: Can we bring our own liquor? A: At the lodge we have a full service bar and wine selection so there is no need to. For the Big Mountain Heliskiing Tours you are welcome to bring in your own libations but keep in mind your weight restrictions. You may contact us or our charter service if you wish to have anything flown in ahead of your arrival. A local liquor store and beer and wine store are also close by. Q: What type of payments do you accept? A: Visa, M/C and bank wire transfers for tour bookings and in Bella Coola we take cash, Travellers Cheques, Visa and M/C. Q: What is your safety record? A: To date there has been no heliskiing fatalities and only a few broken bones! Q: What is the average age of your guests? A: The average age is 35 – 49 years. Q: Can I bring my own air bag? A: Yes you can however they must be ABS to be allowed. On each lift you will be required to remove the ABS from your person before entering the helicopter. A: We strongly recommend that you carry your own trip cancellation / interruption insurance. We also recommend that you purchase travel and accident insurance.
