Education Committee

The activities of this committee include educating, disseminating, and supporting Black BC historical achievements. The committee accomplishes these objectives by inviting guest speakers to monthly BCBHAS general meetings and providing school presentations regarding Black pioneers. Most importantly, this committee is responsible for conducting research on the history of Blacks in BC.

Membership Committee

This committee's activities are directed to maintaining and building our membership. This goal is accomplished by contacting each member to inform them of upcoming BCBHAS activities and events, increasing our profile in the community by attending local community and multicultural events, inviting interested parties to our general meetings and social events, and communicating to the board the needs, concerns, and comments, etc., of our membership.

Fundraising Committee

This committee develops interesting and unique ways of raising money to enable the Society to fulfill its mandate. Past fundraising activities have included a craft show, SunFest, cafes, and a variety of Black History Month activities. Please click here for upcoming BCBHAS events.

Youth Committee

This committee coordinates activities for youth while encouraging them to take an active interest in the achievements of Blacks in BC, and Canada, as well as developing an interest in their community and the world.
