Minutes

Business Arising
It was agreed that meetings would be held every other month and that speakers, and/or videos would be booked but that help would be needed from members to provide names to Karen, Me-Kon or Mavis in order to make that happen.
Correspondence
Karen circulated a book list and catalogue from Scholarly Book Services based in the West Indies.
Correspondence had been received from Making It Happen, promoting a speaker and a video. As this was considered expensive and about USA Black History, it was agreed to receive and file.
Financial Report
Karen referred this matter to the Annual General Meeting to immediately follow.
Event and Fund Raising
Grants
Me-Kon reported that a Festival grant from the City of Victoria should be applied for as the deadline is mid-November. She will look into whether the Festival grant only applies to festivals of three consecutive days, or whether they may be separated.
There is also funding available for Special Projects, deadline October 15. Members are encouraged to email Karen with ideas. Karen will then compile these and forward to Me-Kon.
Choir Performance
Me-Kon reported that the Checo Victoria Choir will be performing at Centennial United for a Christmas concert. It was agreed that Me-Kon would approach Eric and Checo to determine if a choir performance could be held during Black History Month (recommended dates: Feb. 9 or Feb. 16th).
