Walking the fields and lanes around St. Ewe, you catch glimpses
of the village in the distance.

The steeple just shows over the trees,
and the last house in the village is on the left edge of the picture.
An ancient spring rises in the graveyard and a stream runs in the bush-filled valley.

Avoiding cow patties, from the same vantage point, turn slightly left.
The hamlet of Polmassick nestles in the valley of the Luney,
but farm buildings are built on the exposed uplands.

In the churchyard are palm trees and the famous St Ewe camellia
- a variety bred at Caerhayes Castle, and a mass
of pink blooms in the spring.

The graveyard is left untended to provide habitat for wildlife.
Makes it hard to find your ancestors, though.

The newer part of the cemetery is maintained.

Evening sun bathes the octagonal church tower with a warm glow,
as seen from the new cemetery.
