- Standard Package: $ 110 - $150

Additional pages are $50 each. Price includes

The Victoria Job Market
Victoria is a wonderful city to live in but the job
market is somewhat challenging. The trick is knowing
where the good jobs are and how to get one. At Résumés
PLUS we understand the anxiety and confusion associated
with searching for employment because we have
successfully guided thousands of people through this
process.
Victoria's major employers are government and the
service/tourist industries including hotels, retailers,
etc. The recent down-sizing of both federal and
provincial governments has added to the supply of workers
searching for "non-government" jobs.
Statistically, the applicants who are properly prepared
for their search are the ones that succeed, even when the
competition is fierce.
There are a wide variety of services to assist you
ranging in their level of qualification from professional
résumé services to secretarial services to home-typing
services. Make sure you understand the "cost vs
quality" trade-off with each of these options and
select the one that best serves your needs. This is an
important step so it's a good idea to know your service
provider' level of qualification before the project

Tips and Traps
1. Start with the best possible résumé. It's a
competitive market out there. Make sure your résumé is
not outdated. If it is it will probably get lost in the
pile. 80% of résumés are either outdated or presented
in the incorrect style.
2. Plan your search. Find out where the good jobs are
and concentrate on them.
3. Don't use mail-outs and newspaper ads as your only
leads. They produce the lowest percentage of jobs (<15%).
Seek out the other sources of jobs (The Hidden Market).
4. Negotiate properly for salary/benefits. Know what
to ask for, it's your future!
5. Beware of unqualified advice. Family and friends
try to help but fail to realize that the type of résumé
they produce is no better than the résumé produced by
the family and friends of other applicants. Unfortunately,
it often gets lost in the pile. Know when it is cost
effective to bring in professionals such as Résumés
PLUS.
