Green Party elections are conducted by universal mail-in ballot. If your membership is current or if it has lapsed within the twelve months prior to the AGM (21 October 2006 to 20 October 2007), please be sure to take part in the election of a new leader and Provincial Council members.
When you receive the AGM and ballot package in early October, I would ask that you cast your vote for Walter Meyer zu Erpen as Party Chair and for Jane Sterk as Party Leader, as well as for other members of Provincial Council. Then please immediately return your ballots by mail unless you are certain that you will be attending the AGM on 20-21 October at Royal Roads University, Victoria.
Every vote counts! Jane Sterk and I need your support to ensure that we are both elected, to be able to get on with the work of building a stronger Green Party. By voting for Jane Sterk, you will ensure that the provincial Green Party selects the strongest leader for the 2009 election and referendum on the single transferable vote system. BC-STV is the system that was proposed by the Citizen’s Assembly on Electoral Reform to make our Legislature representative of voter preferences.
NOTE: Lapsed members must renew by making a minimum $10.00 political contribution to the Green Party of British Columbia when returning their ballots. Your $10.00 membership fee and any additional donation qualify for the 75% tax credit on the first $100 donated each year to a provincial political party.
Even if you are not able to vote in this internal election (deadline for new members was 20 September), your membership in the Green Party of British Columbia would be much appreciated! There are three ways by which new members can join and expired members can renew:
Apply through the Green Party website ( http://www.greenparty.bc.ca/membership ). A separate step is required to make your minimum $10.00 donation by credit card.
Phone the Green Party office at 1-888-473-3686 and give your information and credit card information to a staff member.
Download and print a copy of the attached membership form (click here) and mail it with your cheque to the Green Party office.
Your $10.00 membership fee and any additional donation qualify for the 75% tax credit on the first $100 donated each year to a provincial political party.
