My background is a fusion of technology and marketing, throughout which writing has always been a constant. In over 20 years, I have undertaken communications projects that ranged from marketing and promotion pieces to technical reports, proposals, training manuals and software documentation.
      This experience has taught me that the most important goal of communications (written or otherwise) is to inform, persuade and motivate. While my focus lately has been mostly on technology, I also enjoy writing about health, education, politics, and social issues. Key strengths include a tight, focused writing style, the ability to express ideas with clarity and economy, and a knack for tailoring presentation to the reader's comprehension level.

  • Research/Writing: Recently wrote "Engines of Local Economic Growth," a summary of key regional economic development trends and statistics for the Vancouver Island Advanced Technology Centre. Team writer for the DREP Review Team (committee to investigate alternative uses of the resources displaced by the federal government's closure of DREP). Co-authored "Gender Equity in Mathematics, Science & Technology," a report produced in 1989 with federal government funding.
  • Training Manuals: Wrote two popular and best-selling courses--"Introduction to the Internet" and "Creating Your Own Web Page"--for Stellar Systems Group. Currently developing Advanced Web Page Design course. Developed workshops and wrote manuals on a variety of marketing and communications topics, including "PR on the Net" and "Marketing Fundamentals." Ghostwrote sales training material for an American sales training company.
  • Software Documentation: "The Easy Canadian Payroll" and "GeoMetrix Training Partner."
  • Newsletter Editing: "Double Click," "Strategies for Success," "Training Trends," and "STA Bulletin."
