Ernie Voyageur is a Dene of the Athabaska Chipewyan First Nations tribe. Born at Jackfish Lake, Alberta. He lived in Alberta most of his young years. He worked as a Iron worker for many years, then he went to obtain his teaching degree. He taught Math, computers and English in Port Hardy, Bella Bella and Kingcome Inlet until poor health forced him to retire. He now reads a lot and has joined the Coin collectors in Nanaimo where he resides now. Evelyn Willie Voyageur, RN., BScN., MA/ABS. is from the Dzawataineuk tribe (Kingcome Inlet) of the Kwakwakawak Nation. Born and raised in B.C. Evelyn worked in hospitals as a RN, then as a Community Health Nurse in First Nations communities in B.C. and in Alberta. Evelyn went further to obtain her Masters in Psychology, enabling her to work with residential school surivivors. Retired from nursing in 1999 and then went to work for the Residential School project. She is very versed in her culture and speaks her language. |
