Welcome to Music in Victoria, a site for news and reviews of what is generally known, for want of a better term, as "classical" music, in and around Victoria, British Columbia.

Latest News: Wednesday, 17-Jan-2024 12:17:35 PST

Please note: tonight's UVic Faculty Concert featuring Bruce Vogt accompanying two silent movies has been postponed — presumably because of this white stuff that has been falling out of the sky.

Thanks to what I suspect may well be long Covid and also the after effects of our prolonged house move (long Movid?) MiV is in something of a disarray at present.

We are hoping to address this "real soon now". But one change is going to be that the weekly preview is unlikely to reappear; rather, the calendar entries will contain rather more information than before.

And, when this snow disappears and Deryk is given the all-clear (tests soon) some more reviews will surface.

Please stay tuned.

A Note to Internet Explorer Users

This page is best viewed using a browser which conforms to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) standard.

Unfortunately, the most widely-used browser, Microsoft's Internet Explorer, is non-compliant in a number of areas and consequently the page may not look the way it is intended to in IE. (In IE4.5 on the Mac it will definitely not look right)

Fortunately, virtually all other browsers do support the CSS standard and MiV strongly recommend that you change to one of these. The increasingly popular open source Firefox and the now-free Opera, for example, both do.
