The Vancouver Island Section offers an Annual Award for the best article published in the Newsletter. Help make this publication reflect your community, write an article and submit it to the Editor, you could win $150!

The winning article for 1996/7 is:

"Highway 407 Safety Review" by Prof. Frank Navin, P. Eng., of UBC/Hamilton Associates for his article in the May 1997 edition describing the Safety Review of this new Build-Operate-Transfer Highway project in Ontario. The award will be presented at the September Meeting of the Vancouver Section.

The runners up were:

"Photo-Radar as Deployed in BC" by S/Sgt. Alex Campbell, NCO/ic, Vancouver Island Photo Radar Unit, Victoria, BC.

"Bus Rapid Transit" by Stefano Viggiano, Lane Transit District, Portland, OR, and Graham Carey, JHR Transportation Engineering, Portland, OR.

"Changes in Travel Behaviour in Greater Vancouver" by Clive Rock, P. Eng., and Karoly Krajczae, P. Eng., of the GVRD's Transportation Planning Section.

"Washington Coastal Corridor Project" by Elizabeth Robbins, Project Manager, WSDOT, Olympic Region, Tumwater, WA."
