Douglas H. Differt, PE.
Thank you for this opportunity to express my continued interest in serving ITE by becoming a candidate for International Vice President. I am positive that ITE's vision statement, "to become the organization of choice for individual transportation professionals responsible for meeting society's needs for safe and efficient transportation" will effectively guide us as we enter the 21st century.
The challenges of fulfilling our vision are many and varied. As usual, money is necessary to carry out the implementation of programs. Public expectations or perceptions of service continue to challenge us and our profession. Technical solutions and political environments must be facilitated to provide future transportation directions. Items such as design/build, traffic calming, governmental membership in ITE, partnerships, both public and private, as well as organizational partnerships, and involvement/ leadership of the Transportation Engineering profession are critical to our impact on society.
I am currently Vice President and Dir. of Transp. Engineering at BRW Inc. in Minneapolis with responsibility for the Minneapolis Transportation Group. Prior to this I was Deputy Commissioner/Chief Eng. with the MN Dept. of Transportation. I have held numerous positions in ITE, AASHTO and ITS Minnesota.
Needless to say, I feel that my education, background, experience and desire to serve has prepared me for leadership in the Institute. One of my greatest personal assets is the energy and enthusiasm I bring to all of the duties and responsibilities I have undertaken throughout my career ; the opportunity to serve as Vice President of ITE would be no exception.
Robert M. Rodgers, PE.
The person you elect this year as Vice-President will be the President on the 70th Birthday of ITE at the dawn of the 21st Century. Our association has become the leading professional association in transportation around the world.
Objectives: the purpose of our Institute is twofold: "meeting human needs for mobility and safety and promoting the professional development of its members". My objectives and priorities as Vice-President are as follows:
ITE Experience: I have been an active member of ITE for over 25 years. For 12 years I have held elected offices in ITE and have devoted all of my professional activities to this organization.
