BOYCOTT PREMARIN

What Is It?

Premarin and Prempak-C are estrogen drugs made from the urine of pregnant mares.

Why Is It Cruel?

If you visit a PMU (Pregnant Mare Urine) farm in Manitoba, Canada and North Dakota, USA, you will see:

  • Mares tied up in stalls so small they cannot turn around or lie down.
  • Mares crippled from standing, months on end, in small concrete stalls.
  • Mares denied water so that their urine becomes thick as syrup
  • Mares with sores from the pee bag strapped between their legs.
  • Mares with painful urinary tract infections due to the inhumane conditions they are kept in.
  • Baby foals left in unsheltered feed lots to be fattened up for slaughter.
  • Read an Eye Witness Account of the treatment of babies.
  • Is It Necessary?

There are many plant-based and synthetic estrogen replacement drugs. Some of these are Estradiol, Estropipate and Estrone. These drugs are more effective and safer. Other safe alternatives include Estratab, Estraderm, Estrace, Ortho-Est, Remifemin, and a new drug called Cenestin ... and no animals suffer and die to provide their ingrediants.

    How To Help!

If you are outraged at this cruelty to beautiful animals, there is much that you can do:

  • Ask your doctor and pharmacist to prescribe only effective synthetic and plant-based estrogen drugs. There is some estradiol in the Premarin mix so they can misrepresent the product - beware of the deliberate confusion Wyeth-Ayerst creates around this.

  • If you are a doctor or pharmacist, give out brochures to educate your clients on Premarin and its alternatives.

  • Write to your department of Agriculture and Department of Health and explain why you want to boycott Premarin. You can find the address for these departments at any public library or by phoning your goverment information line.

  • Write to Dr. Loretta P. Finnegan, Director, Women's Health Initiatives, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD 20892.

Protest their use of Premarin in women's medical studies. First, it is bad for people. The so-called Women's Health Initiative is giving people **Prempro**!! That's *daily* Provera mixed in with the Premarin. Provera is essentially a poison that's supposed to be an imitation progesterone ("progestin" is what they call imitation progesterones). But now that REAL progesterone is available (again with a vegetable source just like the other lab reproductions of our real hormones) the only excuse for giving it to anyone is to enrich the Wyeth-Ayerst corporation. They are poisoning women with these 30+ year old products in the name of "research" and then they're going to tell docs, nurses and women that whatever comes up is the result of "estrogen"!!

  • The U.S. government should be asked to research REAL HUMAN HORMONES. Genuine human hormones cannot be patented and therefore companies like Wyeth-Ayerst can't really afford to do any research on them.

  • Please also write or call Wyeth-Ayerst and its parent company, American Home Products, voicing your Protest:
